Outcome-driven UX Metrics
Forget generic analytics that barely scratch the surface. This workshop is all about building metrics that connect directly to real user outcomes – tracking progress, highlighting wins, and identifying challenges with clarity. Prove the strategic value of UX by creating metrics that tell a compelling story of impact and transformation.

About this workshop
Outcome-driven UX metrics is a radical approach to measuring and reporting UX metrics with your organization.
You’ll directly measure how every new release of your products and services improves the lives of your donors, fundraisers, and employees.
When you share Outcome-driven UX metrics, you’ll…
Increase the strategic contributions your UX team delivers to your organization.
Raise the perception of UX’s value in the eyes of your executives and senior stakeholders.
Inspire your development and product management peers to prioritize UX in their work.
Measuring the users’ experiences, not their behaviors.
The Outcome-Driven UX Metrics framework is a unique approach to measuring user experiences. It’s not based on analytics with a fuzzy relationship to your team’s work. Instead, you derive your metrics from your users’ most important outcomes.
You’ll start with a simple question: How will you improve your users’ lives? You’ll ultimately build your metrics around this question.
We’re not starting with the analytics reports. Instead, we begin with the UX professional’s most potent instrument: our keen observations.
You can measure anything you observe. You build your Outcome-Driven UX Metrics from what you see when you study your users’ and customers’ experiences.

The mission of UX is...
... to improve the lives of everyone who uses our products and services.
If the work you’re doing won’t improve someone’s life, why are you doing it?

Based on your observations, you determine what an improved user experience would look like. Your UX Success Metric tracks the improvements you make in your users’ lives.
Then, you identify what the journey is to achieving that success. The milestones along the way are your UX Progress Metrics.
Are there obstacles in your way? You can describe those challenges with Problem-Value Metrics.
Each of these metrics categories helps you tell the story of your UX journey. The story of where you’re going, where you started, and how far along you are.
Outcome-driven UX Metrics are simple in their concepts. Once you acquire the fundamentals, you’re ready to implement your own.
And once you implement your own Outcome-Driven UX Metrics, you’ve unleashed a superpower. You’ll spark exceptional outcomes with your UX metrics as the foundation.
