Community etiquette
Hey there, and welcome to uxcon vienna!
We're super excited to have you and want to make sure it's an awesome experience for everyone. So, before we dive in, let's talk about a few things to make sure that together we are creating an inclusive and respectful environment for all participants.
1. Respect for all – let go of assumptions
We respect the dignity, worth, and uniqueness of every individual. Treat everyone with kindness, empathy, and understanding, regardless of their background, identity, or beliefs.
We recognize that each person's identity is shaped by various factors, such as race, gender, age, sexual orienation, gender identity, ability, and socioeconomic status etc.
So, we ask you to be mindful of intersectional experiences and perspectives, and avoid making assumptions about others. So that we can all feel like we belong.
2. Inclusivity and accessibility
We strive to create an accessible and inclusive space where everyone feels welcome and valued. We do our best to consider the diverse needs of participants and make accommodations whenever possible. We also want to remind you that not every disability or physical condition is visible.
3. Listening and learning
As UX people, it is literally our job to engage in active listening and be open to learning from different viewpoints and experiences. Let’s make sure we carry that attitude with us throughout these two days.
Take the time to understand and reflect on the perspectives of others, even if they differ from your own.
4. Consent and boundaries
Respect personal boundaries and always obtain verbal consent before engaging in any form of physical contact or sharing personal information. The same goes for taking pictures and sharing them on social media. Be mindful of power dynamics and avoid actions that may make others feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
5. Personal accountability and growth
By holding yourself accountable for upholding these principles, you commit to continuous growth and self-improvement. We are grateful for your efforts. We know how hard it can be to acknowledge mistakes and apologize.
6. Talk to us
If you ever run into a hiccup, notice someone else having a tough time, or have any concerns, step in or hit us up – in person or drop an email at hello@uxcon.at. We're all here to ensure a positive and respectful environment.
Just in case things take an unexpected turn...
We're all here to have a good time, but if rules get broken, we might have to do something – like a gentle warning, maybe parting ways without refunds or, in extreme cases, legal action.
Thumbs up!
By joining uxcon vienna, you're saying you're on board with these rules. Thanks a bunch for helping us create a positive and equitable conference vibe!
