About the Speaker
Indya McGuffin is dedicated to empowering those envisioning more equitable futures. Her career spans children’s book design, studio ownership, lecturing at Stanford University's d.school, and leading design program management with Netflix’s Design Systems team.
If you ever find yourself in an elevator with Indya, ask her about balancing passion and practicality—though be prepared to lose track of what floor you were meant to get off on. Inspired by her self-designed major at Stanford, she co-founded PURSUIT, a studio specializing in visual storytelling and creative strategy to help people better understand themselves and others. She has since returned to Stanford to co-develop and teach Print on Purpose, a design course exploring how social justice shapes local, national, and global consciousness. On weekends, Indya connects with future creatives and world-shakers—ages 4 to 8—through Storyland, a family story hour she created to encourage little ones to hear stories and share their own.
Indya is on a mission to catalyze more courage—designing tools that foster collaboration and thoughtful decision-making, guiding the next generation of creatives, and amplifying voices through community-building. She has shared this vision on stages at Figma Config, SXSW Edu, and beyond, inspiring folks to harness the power of storytelling, connection, and design.
